Corey is the first to officially announce that they will seek the Alberta Liberal nomination in the upcoming Calgary-Glenmore by-election to replace Ron Stevens. Other rumoured candidates include George Dadamo, the former Ontario Cabinet Minister. It is my understanding that Avalon Roberts, the previous ALP candidate hasn't yet ruled out running again.
Here, for the record, is the press release from the Hogan Campaign:
[Calgary] Corey Hogan announced today that he is officially seeking the nomination to be the Alberta Liberal Candidate in Calgary Glenmore. The small business owner and long-time Liberal activist grew up in Oakridge, and has considerable ties in the constituency.
Explaining his entrance in the race, Hogan said, “Looking at the state of our health care and the mismanagement of our economy, I think many Albertans are unhappy with the direction Stelmach is taking the province. The constituents of Calgary Glenmore have a unique opportunity to send a message - we don't have this right. We need to fix this."
Hogan made the announcement as the Bill 44 debate resumes in the Provincial Legislature.
Remarked Hogan, “We have a government that’s grown stale over decades, and the need for fresh ideas and new thinking has never been more obvious.”
“David Swann has made it quite clear that his is a party that welcomes a new generation of Albertans into its fold,” said Hogan (age 27).
A long-time Liberal activist and organizer, Hogan is expected to enter the nomination contest with considerable support from card-carrying members in Calgary Glenmore.
