Politics demystified

Capital Notebook nails it.

Imagine if real life were like politics.

You might say to your husband, "Hun, can you take out the garbage tonight?"

And he would say, "The garbage can is located under the kitchen sink."

Or, your husband might watch you wipe down the kitchen counter, then say, "We can all agree the kitchen counter had to be wiped down tonight. But why use paper towel?"

Ugh. Not that journalism-as-life would be a laugh-riot either. "Hun, should I wear the red tie or the blue tonight?"

"What tie do you think you should wear? What do you think your red or blue tie say about you? Why do you feel a tie is necessary at all?"
