Just a quick thought, inspired by this article.
There's a lot of fuss being made about planning for the hordes of babyboomers marching, slowly but inexorably towards their senior years. The government of Alberta recently commissioned yet another 'lets pretend we're engaging in meaningful dialogue public survey as a part of their Demographic Planning Commission.

Obviously, we need to do some heavy duty long (and increasingly short) term planning - and infrastructure development - to prepare for this. What happens in 45 years, when all the babyboomers are dead? Should we be considering designing these new seniors facilities in such a fashion that they are multipurpose, or easily repurposed?
